Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – noon.
$150

Yanti’s PLAY! programs are tailored to each group and designed for kids to engage with one another while learning to connect to their own creativity, discipline and fine motor skills by singing, dancing and playing. Yanti has a fun-loving style and is able to connect with kids of all ages through theatre and imagination games. This year, she is  offering a morning camp filled with music, ukulele, art projects, and cooperation games exploration and FUN! Yanti will give the kids a tour of the Naramata Centre grounds and create a program tailored to the needs and wishes of the group. General learning points are: to learn new ways to play old games, negotiate rules and regulations of games, monitor expectations, and let loose!

Knitting 101 (Donald Schmidt)

Ages 8+
Monday-Friday, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
$25 + $15 materials fee

Anyone can knit. The world is made up of knitters and those who simply haven’t picked up some needles and yarn yet. In this short course we will learn how to cast on, knit, purl, and cast off. Depending on how readily folks pick it up they will have the option of creating a potholder, dishcloth, scarf, or (for the ambitious folks) a simple child’s sweater. Come, sit under a tree, and let’s knit!

Bursting Out! Mono-Printing as a Spiritual Practice (Julie Elliot) – SOLD OUT

Ages 11+
Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-noon.
$250 + $40 materials fee

Monoprinting falls somewhere between painting and printmaking. The beauty of this process is an inherent “brand-new something” in every moment. It’s a process that encourages letting go and letting be. In that way, it helps us let go of our need for control – allowing something new to emerge – something better than we could have imagined in the first place. It’s all about being present to what is and working with that. We’ll learn new techniques each day and many options will be offered so you can “burst out and see” your own unique creations. Be delighted as you discover the distinctive colours, textures, shapes, and lines that show up in your monoprints. We’ll be inspired by the beauty of Naramata Centre as we make use of botanicals (leaves, weeds, grasses, and flowers) along with other found objects. Absolute beginners are welcome, as well as more experienced artists. Everyone will work at their own pace and depth.

Singing on Top of the World (Linnea Good)

Ages 11+
Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – noon.
$300 + $20 materials fee

Earth-shaking, Life-making, Bond-breaking: Music! In this group, we will sing gospel songs, SATB choral pieces, canons, pop and folk songs and have vocal fun. We will work with scores and with just our ears. And for sheer fun, the last half hour of our mornings will be a little ukulele playing. No expertise is necessary.

Becoming an Everyday Mystic (Bill Booth)

Adult and mature teens
Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – noon.
$100

This program will consist of both informational learning and experiential learning. Participants will develop their own means and ways to start the process of living in the world with more awareness and awe. Participants will find an intellectual framework to understand mysticism and create a desire for mystical experience and thinking in their lives. There will be discussions about consciousness, perception, meaningfulness, nature of the Divine, what we mean by transformation and salvation and more. Outside of the time in session, the participants will be given suggestions to enhance their potential mystical experience of the world (attentive walking, deep perceiving, self-observing and other activities). Past program participants have called the course “inspiring – life changing” and “totally enjoyable and thoughtful and challenging (in a good way)”.

Befriending the Bible – It Doesn’t Bite (Donald Schmidt)

Adult
Monday-Friday, 9:00-11:45 a.m.
$135

Sometimes we are afraid of scripture, and we need not be. It is living, powerful, dynamic, life-changing – and even funny sometimes. It has much to say to us today about how to live, and how to relate to God, especially when we peal back the layers of “stuff” that tradition has told us it means, and explore it anew. Through conversation and exploration we will gain a new appreciation for the words and stories in this ancient book.

Harmonizing Soul and Role: A Circle of Trust Experience (Dianne Baker)

Adult
Saturday, 7:00-8:30 p.m.
Sunday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday, 9:15 a.m.-noon
Monday, 2:00-4:30 p.m.
Thursday, optional session 2:30-5:15 p.m.
$400

This five day offering will use the format of Circles of Trust (www.couragerenewal.org) and features of a Full Voice: The Art and Practice of Vocal Presence (www.barbaramcafee.com) to engage participants in experiences of deep listening to self, to others and creating community using harmony and dissonance as both metaphor and practice. On one afternoon, Clearness Committees will be held. We will use silence, poetry, song and movement to understand ourselves, our birthright gifts and our voice in the world, with the purpose of enhancing our appreciation of diversity, and committing ourselves to creating a world of welcome and wholeness for all. And we will have fun and make lovely, lively music together using only our bodies and voices. (No previous musical experience is needed to make this a powerful and delightful venture!)
