Easy Tai Chi (Susan Norie)

Ages 12 – 112
Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. – noon
$120

The program will cover basics of Tai Chi and Qigong, including stance, posture, balance, weight shifting.  Other aspects will include warm-ups, meditation, and a focus on two forms.  One form is simple, fluid, and fun.  The other will involve more attention to the precision of movements.  Moves are not difficult, but require awareness of integrating all parts of the body with each posture, something we will work on.  Participants should wear comfortable clothing that allows free movement, and flexible shoes (going barefoot may be an option).

Canning in Community (Sarah Thomas, Eleni Black & Ellen Hunter-Perkins)

Ages 10 – 110
Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – noon
$175 + $50 materials fee

An ancient art with a history at the Centre, saving the seasons has become a pleasure and a pastime for many, rather than the necessity that it once was. This three-day workshop will be an opportunity to get hands-on and preserve some of the fruits of the Okanagan Valley. Whether you’ve never canned before or you can regularly, this program will provide space to experience the joys of canning.

Come prepared with your body and soul to get messy and share in the process of processing fruit.

Bring jars if you have them!

Song Catching with Yanti (Yanti Rowland)

Ages 4 – 104
Monday – Friday, 5:30 p.m – 6:30 p.m.
$80 (individual)
$120 (family package – two or more in the same family)

Song Catching with Yanti was born out of the idea that we all have the ability to sing and that it is vibrational therapy from the inside. Under the leadership of Yanti, local vocalist, you will have the opportunity to develop your voice through songs of the Ubuntu Choir Network taught in the oral tradition. Ubuntu means, I am because we are. Together we will explore sounds and vibrations from within us as well as jump into the world of improv.

Yanti is passionate about singing together. Many people have songs in their hearts and yet are afraid to sing. Yanti believes everyone can sing and that there is freedom in singing.

ALL ABILITIES ARE WELCOME! (kids under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult).  NO PREVIOUS MUSIC OR SINGING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!
