Religion at large has imposed artificial binaries that have fractured our sense of belonging, especially for LGBTQ2S+ people. What’s the difference between ‘fitting in’ and truly ‘belonging’? Roles of privilege and fitting into societal ‘norms’ can disconnect us from the lived experiences of folks who embody difference.
In this fun and interactive session, LGBTQ2S+ activist and performer Pam Rocker will share her coming out journey and how transformed spiritual perspectives can have a vital and life giving role to play for all of us. Questions are welcome and we invite you to bring your curiosity with you.

Join the conversation on how we can create space for everyone and celebrate our commonality!

About Conversations that Matter

This is an opportunity to come together for a respectful and in-depth discussion on social issues we are facing in the community today.
Topics include: Mental Health, Gender Expression, Ageism, Colonization, Globalization, Climate Change, Gender Equality, Privilege, Religious Freedom, and so on.

Important Details:

A link will be emailed to all registered participants one day before the event. Please come on time by logging in a few minutes in advance, and plan to stay for the full session.

The gatherings will take place on Zoom, a video conferencing tool. You can download Zoom for free (click “download” under “Zoom Client for Meetings”). You do not need a Zoom account, but you will need a device with audio/visual and internet connection. Please check your audio in advance by making sure you have a working microphone, camera, and speakers. (Alternatively, there is an option to join by phone, but the experience will be diminished without video, so we encourage you to use video if you can)

Each guest who joins the conversations brings with them Participation Leadership:

Open-mindedness: listen to and respect all points of view.
Acceptance: suspend judgment as best you can.
Curiosity: seek to understand rather than persuade.
Discovery: question assumptions, look for new insights.
Sincerity: speak from your heart and personal experience.
Brevity: go for honesty and depth with conciseness

Our Collective Commitment:

Be present
Speak with intention, from your heart, and listen deeply
Co-create the kind of experience we want
Respectfully share our learning with the community
