A Mid-Week Unwind…

Qigong (translated as Vital Energy Cultivation/Play/Practice, and an ancestor of Taiji) is an ancient practice of aligning breath, meditative movement, and awareness. Using Movement Sequences and Dynamic Stillness, Qigong practice mindfully cultivates health, harmony, and vitality within our body-mind-spirit. We practice for increasing mindfulness, strength, healing & meditative states.

In this practical and easygoing class, you will learn foundational Qigong theory & postures, traditional movement sequences, Qi Self-Massage (Tao Yìn) basics, Meditation skills, and a few Medical Qi Gong breathing practices. These techniques have many benefits for health and well-being, including increased energy, increased flexibility, mental acuity, stress reduction, deepened connection to self & nature, and body/mind balance.

“Qi” (or vital energy) itself is a main undercurrent within Taiji and other martial arts, but this Qigong approach is for health, healing, body-mind development, and longevity, not combat. It is a moving meditation that helps focus & calm the mind, and tune the person into a deeper connection with subtleties of life and living. We will use sitting, standing, and laying practices that all lead to invigoration, relaxation, and personal integrity.

Each session will encourage deep awakeness and peace in the whole self, and in connection to Life within and around us. Learn simple, practical exercises for self-healing and self-empowerment. It will be a time of renewal, slowing down, powering up, rejuvenation and inner playfulness.
