Elixirs are gaining popularity as a delicious alternative to coffees, teas and hot chocolate. Elixirs are traditionally known as a sweet liquid used for medicinal purposes. Think of them as a delicious, fun and creative way to get the benefits of mushrooms, chocolate, and herbs to maintain good health.

Participants will be led through an easy tasty version of a hot chocolate that incorporates Reishi medicinal mushrooms. Reishi Mushroom is a fungus that holds an important place in the traditional medical systems of Asia. Reishi mushrooms are possibly the most well researched of the medicinal mushrooms and their use in healing dates back over 2,000 years ago to ancient China. Today the most pertinent research tells us that they are incredibly beneficial for the immune system, stress reduction, and relaxation.

Throughout the class you will learn about the benefits of cacao and medicinal mushrooms and how you can create a daily ritual of adding these life-giving ingredients into your diet.

The elixir we will make together is “ Reishi Relaxation”. This elixir is an excellent warm drink to enjoy in the evening, to promote relaxation.

Ingredients and tools needed

Chaga tea (any tea will do essentially but will change the flavour- the program leader will be sticking with chaga), cacao powder, reishi powder, coconut manna, maple syrup (or any liquid sweetener of choice), a cooking pot, blender and cup to enjoy your elixir.

Variations– ginger tea as a base, adding a sprinkle of cinnamon or cayenne if you like a spicy hot chocolate, peppermint tea as a base or a drop of peppermint essential oil for a minty hot chocolate.
