Camp Spirit

In partnership with local United Church congregations, Camp Spirit provides equipped leaders to nurture the spirit of each child, in order to support children and families to live lives of faith, hope, and compassion in the world.

Camp Spirit’s story began in the summer of 2012, with a mission to create a day camp experience that would welcome, nurture and support children and families. Camp Spirit was to be financially accessible to everyone. The Camp Spirit model grew as a response to the question; how are we being called to meet families in their places of deepest need? The answer: a safe, affordable, inclusive, all-day, lunch and snacks included experience for children. Over the last 11 years, Camp Spirit has evolved. Camp Spirit offers programming for children ages 5 – 11 years old; a Leader-in-Training program for those 12 – 14 years old; and youth crew leadership development program for those 15 – 17 years of age. Camp Spirit’s staffing model has also evolved. This summer Camp Spirit hired 28 staff members between the ages of 15 and 34.

Camp Spirit values fostering radically inclusive community and lasting friendships, enjoying times of creativity and action, experiencing Sacred Stories, the gift of singing together and time and space to play! Camp Spirit strives to nurtures a setting that welcomes the fullness of God’s diversity. Camp Spirit is part of the Pacific Mountain Regional Council’s First Third Ministry.
