Gord Oaks is a Musician and Certified Shiatsu Acupressure Therapist (a relative of Acupuncture), in practice since 1999. He has been exploring, studying, and applying Qigong, Yoga and Meditation in his life and work since 1991, and is a firm advocate for the empowering and Universal nature of the internal healing arts. Gord offers a gentle, but focused physical & spiritual approach to Qigong as a dynamic meditation, as mindfulness training, and as a holistic wellness practice.
Gord has studied directly with four main teachers of Qigong: Hajime Naka (Taiji/Qigong), Dr. Stephen Aung (Medical Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine), Corrine Mol (Toaist Yoga/Qi Self-Massage), and Tetsuro Saito (Healing Hands Qigong and Deeper Meridian Shiatsu work). These Qi masters have opened Gord to their lineages and guided him to deepen in his practice & understanding of Qigong, as well as personal responsibility toward health and wellbeing. Since 1997, Gord has been studying Buddhist meditation and monastic wisdom. This led him to 6 years of living, studying, serving, training and practising in monastic communities around North America, Europe and Sri Lanka.
In his work as a Shiatsu Therapist, Gord teaches Qigong and Self-Acupressure to many of his clients to empower them toward taking responsibility for their own self-healing and vital energy cultivation. To complement his practice, he also integrates the traditions of Healing Touch and Quantum Touch.
